If you have planned to buy the 623 cc Tata Nano this Diwali, you will need to shell out more. Tata Motors on Friday said that they would be taking a minor price increase on Nano to neutralise the steep rise in input costs.
The average increase in the price of a base model Nano, which was to be a `1 lakh wonder but costs about `1.34 lakh for the base model, will be raised by about `9,000 ex-showroom, a rise of roughly about 6.70 per cent on the base price, stated Express News Service.
However, with additional costs like RTO, insurance, and octroi the price on the road will increase proportionately.
Interestingly this is the second time that the company has revised the price after its high profile launch. About three months ago it had increased the prices of Nano by about 4 per cent.
As of now for a Tata Nano base model, ex-showroom in Kochi costs Rs 1.34 lakh, the RTO charges works out to about Rs 11,500 and the insurance another Rs 5,000 taking the total price of the car to about Rs 1,50,500.
For its top end model the LX, the price ex-showroom Kochi is Rs 1,83,000, the RTO levies are Rs 14,500 and the insurance, Rs 5,000 taking the total cost of the car to well above Rs 2 lakhs, to about Rs 2,04000, which could buy one a Maruti low end 800 cc car.
