With regard to rampant illegal electricity connection/hooking/looping reported in some colonies of Mon town, deputy commissioner, Mon, Dinesh Kumar, IAS requested all responsible citizens/NGOs of Mon town in various colonies to keep vigil to curb illegal electricity connection.
DC in an official bulletin said the department of power along with district administration would carry out surprise checks to stop such illegal power theft.
All citizens of Mon town and NGOs have been requested to cooperate with the government for smooth supply of power to all genuine consumers without any hindrance.
DC also stated that pilferage of energy was normally carried out by hooking wires for electricity connection from live lines, which in many instances cause short circuits resulting in fuses being blown out, this activity not only deprives the genuine consumer of power supply but also overloads the distribution transformers in various colonies.
Such theft of electricity incurs loss in the form of government revenue as well as burden to the state government ex-chequer for procurement of materials and replacement, DC added.
