Students of class six and seven, Carmel Higher Secondary School under the supervision of Lisie and Nancy undertook a study tour on November 1 to National Research Centre on Mithun (NRCM) Jharnapani.
Besides receiving an opportunity to have a glimpse of the magnificent animal Mithun, which is the symbol of the state, students were also taken to NRCM farm, Medziphema. Scientists from the NRC on Mithun explained to the students on the various aspects of Mithun husbandry practices and also answered queries raised by the students.
After visiting the farm, students were brought to the centre, followed by small documentary presentation on Mithun “Journey Ahead” prepared by the institute to highlight the researches carried out in the area of Mithun husbandry.
Dr. Vidya Singh who interacted with the students said that at present, there are very few scientists from Nagaland in the area of agriculture and veterinary and encouraged them to study science and take veterinary profession as career in life.
