Additional SP Dimapur, I. Sungit Ao has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commandant 1st NAP, which is currently deployed at New Delhi with effect from November 3.
He will be replaced by Dy SP (R) Kohima Wati Jamir, who was promoted recently. The formal handing and taking over will be held on November 3.
Interacting with the media persons on Tuesday at his office, Sungit said during his stay in Dimapur as Addl SP and SDPO, he had always maintained equilibrium while discharging his duties.
He termed himself as a “lucky person” for being able to serve as a police officer in Dimapur district in various capacities during his entire service career.
Asserting that being in the police force is a challenging job especially in a place like Dimapur, Sungit said that he always advocated for ‘preventive measures’, through which 50% of crime was able to be detected. He further expressed hope that his successor would follow the suit without any prejudice.
Sungit further acknowledged his superior, SP Dimapur Zekotso Mero, by pointing out that rampant extortion, which has been going on for a month, has slowed down within a week’s time through his initiative.
Before posting as Additional SP Dimapur, Sungit had also served as OC Traffic in the rank of SI from 1989-91; Circle Inspector Dimapur and then OC East Police station from 1999-2003 and as SDPO Dimapur from 2008-10.
