A two-day branch development workshop got underway on Tuesday at Hotel Japfu Kohima. Addressing the inaugural programme as chief guest, commissioner and secretary health and family welfare, Menukhol John called for a holistic approach in reviewing the branch systems and procedures. Describing the North East as disaster prone area, the chief guest asked the participants to always be prepared so as to save the life of the people, stated an official bulletin. He also suggested for clubbing up of Junior Red Cross Society and Red Ribbon Club to work towards humanitarian services. Menukhol John also threw light on future plans, challenges and further emphasized on the importance of a well-functioning branch.
Cooperation Co-ordination, (ICRC) International Committee for Red Cross, Paul Keen, in his keynote address lauded IRCS Nagaland Branch, for their continued humanitarian services rendered towards various sections of the society. General secretary, IRCSN, Zakie Kire informed that ICRC has donated a Scorpio to the IRCS State Branch to further carry forward the humanitarian services. He also said that process of starting office in Dimapur has already started. The programme was chaired by vice chairman IRCSN, H. Hesso. Red Cross Members from all the districts and sub-divisions are attending the two day workshop organised by the IRCS, Nagaland State Branch Kohima.
