Entrepreneurs showcase products at exhibition

In a move to promote Khadi & village industries, a six-day district level exhibition under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme began at Multi Sports Hall in Mokokchung town from Wednesday.
Jointly organized by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Dimapur and Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board, (NKVIB) Mokokchung, entrepreneurs under NKVIB from Mokokchung district are taking part in the weeklong exhibition.
A total of 16 stalls including entrepreneurs from Mizoram and Golaghat are also taking part in the exhibition which would continue till November 8.
At a brief inaugural function was held with R. Asenla Keitzar, ADC Mokokchung & Administrator MMC as the chief guest and Watimongba, president, all ward union, as the guest of honour.
Delivering her address, Asenla lauded Khadi and village industries for bringing together various entrepreneurs not only from the district but also from outside the state to Mokokchung.
She also added that such exhibitions provide windows of opportunities to the entrepreneurs and that handlooms and handicrafts were not simply pieces of objects, but bears meaning and symbol depicted in the looms and crafts.
She further added that colours, designs and motifs in the products were unique and went on to add that it has huge potential to attract consumers worldwide.
Reminding the entrepreneurs on the competitive nature of today’s market, the chief guest urged stake holders to give efforts so that these products reach the international market.
Earlier, in the program, Rual Khumi, deputy director state office KVIC, Dimapur delivered the welcome address.
