Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has stoutly opposed the extension of Nagaland in the “Disturbed Area” list by the central government and condemned the October report of the ministry of home affairs presented by the union home minister extending the period from October 20 to June 30, 2011. NSF said it has been demanding for a decade for the withdrawal of AFSPA from Nagaland along with other northeastern states. The Federation said it would withstand to its commitment to fight against violation of human rights even as it seriously examined the discrimination against Nagas by the government of India.
The NSF urged upon the government of India, a member of the UN, to adhere to the declaration of human rights by the UN. The Federation questioned the government of India as to why it has been imposing the ‘draconian law’ instead of revoking while being aware that the ceasefire vis-à-vis political negotiation was in process between the government of India and the Naga national workers.
