Kyong Ekhae Ekhung Shillong conducted the 5th late Dr. Anthony Patton memorial literary meet November 22 at Don Bosco youth centre.
The meet was held under the theme “Create Your Path, Leave Footprints Behind” with Arhomo Kikon, research scholar department of geography NEHU as the theme speaker. The meet began with observing a minute of silence in memory of late Dr. Anthony Patton followed by a brief introduction about his life history by literary secretary, Chopalumi Ovung.
“Behind every successful man there are many failures too” quoted the theme speaker Arhomo Kikon, and urged students to be determined, focused, hard working, inculcate the spirit of discipline, moral uprightness etc.
He also encouraged the student’s to leave behind a good legacy like late Dr. Anthony Patton in whose memory the students had gathered.
Various competitions like debate, extempore speech, essay writing, poetry writing and recitation were conducted and prizes were also distributed to the winners.
Judges for the competitions were Mhathung Rangthang, Statistical Investigator, Directorate of Census Shillong, Chanchibemo Shitio, Research Scholar NEHU, Elizabeth Ezung and CTM Lotha.
Meanwhile, Kyong Ekhae Ekhung Shillong has expressed gratitude to Kyong Research Scholars of NEHU, elders, well wishers and the students’ community for their financial, moral and physical support extended towards the union.
