Responding to NPCC’s attack on the NPF-led DAN government on law and order front especially in the light of the November 25 abduction incident in Dimapur, the NPF Sunday said kidnappings and extortions have been prevalent from before even during the Congress regime in the state and so it should not be politicized.
Terming the November 25 case as “very unfortunate,” NPF adviser, Ato Yepthomi, however, said the incident has nothing to do with politics. “This is not a political issue and so all political parties and the society should put their heads together and discuss on how to handle such matters,” Ato said.
The NPF also requested all Naga national workers to rein in their cadres in their respective designated camps and award befitting punishment if such crimes were committed by their cadres.
The NPF adviser described kidnapping and extortion as a “disease” which called for concerted effort of all to eradicate it rather than blaming each other.
The NPF said there was no law and order problem in Nagaland as compared to Congress-ruled Assam where Hindi speaking community were massacred, the recent vandalizing of Vishal outlet, attack on indigenous people by Bangladeshis, killing 20 non-locals by NDFB to avenge killing of one local etc.
NPF reminded that it was during Congress rule in the state that even armed forces started kidnapping people for ransom and cited the case of Captain Amitabh from 16 AR who kidnapped and looted around 15-16 businessman. Ato, therefore, said it was during the Congress rule that a free hand was given for creating law and order problem.
