A team from Italy would be participating at the forthcoming NE Agri Expo 2010 at Dimapur. Confirming this at an official coordination meeting of FICCI and state government officials at the expo site Monday, FICCI senior assistant director Jasmeet Singh said Italy would have its own stall at the event and would study conduciveness and how to pull up projects suitable for NE region. The team will also distribute pamphlets relating to industrial machineries, the FICCI official informed.
According to official report, Singh also confirmed participation of all the eight NE states besides 150 delegates from FICCI, which is jointly coordinating with government of Nagaland for the NE Agri Expo. As for South East Asian countries, the FICCI official said their participation was yet to be ascertained.
On the progress of the Expo preparations, APC H.K. Khulu expressed optimism that the target impact of NE Agri Expo, which started from scratch, was substantiated by the hosting of the second edition (2010).
He stated that the expo was a long term permanent investment and thus many structures were permanently being constructed such as the Exposition Hall, with a capacity to accommodate 5000 people. Khulu also stressed on the feasibility of the expo stating that it would create business opportunity for farmers and enhance revenue.
NEPED deputy team leader Raj Verma, rural development director Metsubo Jamir, member secretary Dr. Amenla and agriculture additional director Z. Kikon were also present at the meeting.
