Department of power has informed that the 800KVA, 11/0.4KV transformer installed near town duty room at D’Block Kohima, feeding main town and D’Block area, has broken down on November 30, rendering a total blackout in the vicinity.
Stating that the transformer could have been damaged from sudden overload owing to the ongoing festive season, executive engineer (E) Kohima Er. K. Yiese, however, assured that the department was making temporary arrangements for partial restoration of power to some of the affected areas until the defective transformer was restored. Meanwhile, regretting the inconvenience, the department has further appealed to all electricity consumers in and around Kohima to reduce their load by avoiding usage of heavy load consuming appliances to avoid damaging transformers and essential equipments.
