Mizo girl rape case: 2 arrested, 1 surrenders

Two of the five men accused of raping a 30-year-old BPO employee here have been arrested and a third has surrendered in Haryana, Delhi Police said Thursday.
“There are five suspects, of whom two have been arrested. We have learnt that another person has surrendered in a Haryana court. We are looking for the other two accused,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) H.G.S Dhaliwal said here.
The police arrested Shamshad and Usman, both in their early 20s, from Haryana’s Mewat district Wednesday night. One of their accomplices, who was jailed two days ago in a cow slaughtering case, surrendered in a Ballabgarh court Thursday.
According to police, both the arrested have criminal background and have been involved in gangrape cases earlier.
One of the five suspects, Usman, had been charged with another gangrape in Faridabad, 3 years ago. He was also charged with assualting a police team in Sarai Rohilla in Delhi last year.
Others have had criminal records and have been charged with anumber of crimes ranging from petty theft to cow slaughter.
Two others, Kamru and Iqbal, are still at large. Kamru was also accused in another case of gang rape in Faridabad, alongwith Usman, who is now in police custody.
On Nov 23, the BPO staffer from Mizoram was abducted by five men and gangraped in a moving goods carrier. She was abducted soon after being dropped along with another girl, 100 metres from her home, by her office vehicle in Dhaula Kuan area in south Delhi late at night. The men then drove all the way to Mongolpuri in north Delhi and dumped her there after raping her.
Police said investigations were on in full swing with 15 special teams investigating the case.
According to police, CCTV footage has been looked into minutely and the mobile phone records of suspects residing in Mongolpuri area checked.
