Phek District Congress Committee (PDCC) organized a general meeting commemorating 125 years of Indian National Congress on November 29 at Pfutsero town. PDCC and 19th Phek ACCC in a press statement reiterated the Congress condemned and rejected all forms of “arbitrary election resolution of any village to support one political party candidate and prevent other political party candidates” from contesting or campaigning in those villages.
PDCC said the “very act” was unconstitutional violating the Representation of People Act 1952 and suppressing the electorate’s fundamental right of adult suffrage.
The press statement issued by 19th Phek ACCC president Huvosa S. Venuh and vice president Murhaveyi Khesoh and PDCC president Mikha Kenye and general secretary (Adm.) Khosapa Venu added the Congress party would use all democratic means to oppose such unconstitutional action that disclaims the party’s existence and activity in any village.
The signatories condemned the barbaric act of ex-communicating Kuvechiyi Chizo, unit Congress Committee, Phek Basa village from his village by some village leaders affiliated to NPF party adding “such people and action have no place in a civilized society of modern world”.
The signatories also alleged that action was imposed on him because he had defended the Congress party and declared that Congressmen and women supporting Küzholüzo Nienu of NPF in the next general election did not arise.
