Nagaland Women Commission (NWC), Kyong Eloe Hoho and district administration on December 3 jointly organized an open air rally at main traffic point Wokha town, with DC, Rovilatuo Mor (NCS) as chief guest.
Speaking at the function, DC said as part of universal Human Rights to eliminate violence against women, the UN in 1999 declared November 25 as International Day for Elimination of Violence against women.
He said women still continued to be the most delicate, venerable victims of violence in various forms in the society.
Gender suppression, discrimination, over-exploitation of female biological differences with that of male biological dominance had led to various forms of violence, physical, psychological abuses, rapes etc., through-out the world as reflected in various medias said the DC. He also added the society has to accept that women always represented their better halves and a dominant contributor for a stable, confident, healthier home and family.
The function was chaired by Zuchopeni Ezung, chairperson Kyong Eloe Hoho while vote of thanks was proposed by additional deputy commissioner, Wokha, Athel O. Lotha.
