The Nagaland Garo Tribal Council (NGTC) met chief minister of Meghalaya, Dr. Mukul Sangma and minister for power, Nagaland, Doshehe Y Sema on December 5, at Niathu resort, in Dimapur.
The council led by its president, Tarun Chandra A Momin, and general secretary, Budindro Momin, during the course of interaction submitted a memorandum to Dr. Sangma. The memorandum highlighted that on Dr. Sangma’s persuasion, the state government of Nagaland has been kind enough to allot a site for the construction of ‘Nokpante’ (Garo Morung) at Naga Heritage village (Kisama).
NGTC in this regard stated that ‘Garo Morung’ not only made them proud, but also gave them privilege to showcase their tradition and culture to the “hospitable Naga society” as well as the nation.
In the memorandum, the NGTC expressed gratitude to chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio and especially to Doshehe Y Sema for getting in touch with the department in-charge in the process of allotment of the site for the Garo tribe.
The NGTC further thanked Dr. Sangma for the successful construction of the Morung of the Garo tribe at Kisama.
