ANTAD, DTDU hold meetings to safeguard taxi drivers and passengers

All Nagaland Taxi Association Dimapur (ANTAD) unit in an emergency meeting on December 6 resolved to form a separate Dimapur unit like any other districts of Nagaland.
The meeting which was held to deliberate on the on-going crises of the association also resolved to re-address the problem to the authority in charge for smooth functioning of taxi and welfare of the passengers.
Association president Tohozhe Awomi and finance secretary Ghotoi Sema in a press statement said the resolution was taken since Dimapur taxis were not allowed to park in town area and fines were being imposed to the taxis.
ANTAD also resolved that as per taxi association constitution Article 6 clause (C ) no other association, organisation, group would be allowed to form in connection with taxi drivers.
All Nagaland Taxi Association Dimapur unit informed that action would be taken against defaulters.
Meanwhile, Dimapur Taxi Drivers Union (DTDU) also held a meeting on December 5 to deliberate on welfare of its members and to safeguard the interest of taxi drivers.
The meeting resolved that every driver should cooperate with the union and also constitute with all tribes as its representatives to assist in times of any harassment meted out to taxi drivers.
The union also elected seven members with Hetoi Chophi as the president and Shilu Jamir as the general secretary.
