SOF for Kma, Dmu districts

To ensure peaceful and conducive festive season, the Nagaland police headquarters has constituted a special operational force (SOF) for the district of Kohima and Dimapur with two senior officers as operational commanders.
An official order issued December 2 last stated that IGP S.T Sangtam has been assigned as operational commander for Dimapur and DIG R.P. Kikon for Kohima.
With the constitution of SOF, Kohima and Dimapur and the outlaying areas have been divided into several sectors each under the command and control of dy commandant and assistant commandant. Detail security arrangement for the SOF would be made by respective operation commander in consultation with concerned district SPs, the order stated.
According to the order, additional companies of NAP (IR) battalions would be deployed to augment the existing forces in two districts.
SOF would ensure peaceful atmosphere by arresting all criminals and anti-socials involved in extortions, kidnappings and other offences. The SOF would conduct MVCP/ “Nakka Bandi” and curb movements and activities of anti-social elements and criminals.
Raids would be conducted in sensitive areas and localities and flush out operations wherever required. Foot and mobile patrol would also be carried out round the clock. Plain cloth personnel would be deployed in sensitive areas where there was concentration of business establishments. In addition, Inspector General Assam Rifles would be requested to direct his troops to conduct surprise MVCP in NH-29 and in and around Dimapur and Kohima from time to time.
