Airtel promoting local talents

Head-HR, NESA, mobile services, Bharti Airtel Tridip Sarmah on Tuesday reiterated that Airtel has been promoting local talent in north eastern region and also supporting efforts to showcase North East and its tourism potential through associating in events like Hornbill festival in Nagaland, for third consecutive year.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at Hotel Japfu , Kohima Tridip Sarmah said “Airtel is not only serving customers in Nagaland by providing a superior telecommunication network, but is closely associated with the Naga people in promoting their culture”.
Further he said that under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Airtel is sponsoring activities such as the Hornbill National Rock Contest , arts, culture, literature, music and sports, rock shows, fashion shows , Meghalaya Autumn Fest ,Football club and also helping orphanages homes , hospitals in various parts of the north east. In Nagaland, he said that Airtel had already covered all 11 districts with 37 % market share in Nagaland and revealed that it was employing around 500 local populace in the company.
For the third year, Airtel has been promoting Hornbill National Rock Contest by sponsoring the first prize of Rs 5 lakh for the winner of the Hornbill Rock festival.
Gugs Chishi, Project Director, MTF said the corporate sector are now coming forward to support and sponsor the Hornbill National Rock contest and also expressed happiness that to Airtel for sponsoring the first prize. He also said that this sponsors amounting to Rs 12 lakhs from corporate sectors are directly going to the achieving musicians.
Th.Brojendro Singha, DGS Sales, Bharti Airtel informed that Airtel is sponsoring two Naga students in engineering courses. Giving a brief perspective of Airtel in Nagaland, he said that there are about 2.5 lakhs customers with 200 towers in across the state. Anjuli Chittaranjan, Head Internal & Corporate Communications & CSR, NESA Bharti Airtel delivered the introductory speech.
