Police rescues abducted; IMFL seized

Dimapur police rescued an abducted person, seized 119 cases of assorted IMFL, and arrested 15 persons on separate counts during routine MVCP in the past few days.
Informing this, addl SP and PRO Dimapur police, Watichujang said one Mahesh Mahoto was reportedly abducted twice in the past week from two different locations.
Mahoto, a truck driver by profession, was first abducted on December 1 from Signal Basti Dimapur by four unidentified miscreants but was released unharmed by the following day. The abductors allegedly took away Rs.12,000 in cash from the victim’s possession.
On December 5, Mahoto was allegedly held captive by his in-laws in connivance with three locals from Burma Camp, however, he was rescued from Purana bazaar area during routine MVCP set by police.
Altogether, 11 accused persons identified as “raja peyu” Ahoshe of NSCN (I-M), Vikhuka, Deepak Chetri, Kumar Chetri, Meena Chetri, Sibu Chetri, Rutu Mahato, Dilbat Hussain, Raju Chetri, Dole Chetri and Kalu Chetri were arrested in connection with the two incidents.
Police added that forged divorce papers made by the victim’s in-laws were also recovered. The victim also alleged that his in-laws had demanded Rs.4 lakh as ransom money, and even asked the three local persons to “kill and dump his body” after he failed to cough up the amount.
Police also informed that a total of 119 cases of assorted IMFL were confiscated in Dimapur within the past week. The accused, including four women and four non-locals have been taken into custody, while three Maruti vans bearing registration numbers NL-07 5256, NL-07C 0505 and NL-08 1028 and one autorickshaw (NL-07F 3994) were also seized in connection with the case.
