In commemoration of 125 years of Indian National congress, the INC party under 49 A/C Tamlu and 50 A/C Longleng held a meeting at congress Bhavan Longleng on December 4. In a press release issued by President the meeting was attended by DCC members, ACC members, party workers and supporters from Tamlu and Longleng. M Shami Angh ex-MLA, exhorted the party workers and appealed to all to remain committed with the party and its ideology and to work cohesively to strengthen the party. Nganlang Phom PCC member highlighted the programs and achievements of Indian National congress party. The program was chaired by Longphei Phom, President District Congress Committee Longleng.
WAS, TSU concern over insecurity of women in Mon
DIMAPUR: Vexed by serious of rape incidents which took place in Mon district in the month of May and November, the Wakching Area Students Union (WASU) and Tanhai Students’ Union (TSU) have appealed to the authority not to grant bail to those perpetrators presently under police custody.
According to Wakching Area Students Union president T. Longme Lemanghu and Tanhai Students’ Union president Kaipong K, the first incident of rape took place in Wanching village in the month of May where a woman was not only raped but murdered by the immigrants. The second incident took place at Tanhai village in the month of November.
Voicing concern over the insecurity faced by the womenfolk under Mon district, both the student bodies have appealed the authority in charge and higher-ups no to bail the culprits under any circumstances.
The student bodies also cautioned that whoever attempted to bail out the culprits would be held responsible and action would be taken as per the resolution of Wakching Area Students Union constitution.
