Mon DPDB: Mon district planning and development board celebrated pre-christmas with Rev. Rachulie Vihienuo, Pastor, Union Baptist Church, Kohima as the speaker on December 7 at Mission Center, Mon.
In his Christmas message, Rev. Rachulie Vihienuo, said ever since the beginning many things have changed for better but people on the other hand became selfish, violent, individualist and unsatisfied with the progress. “This is because God has created man’s heart with eternal life and man can become fully satisfied only when he has eternal life and that eternal life lies in Jesus.”, Rev Rachulie said. He also said Christmas should not be celebrated with mere exchange of gifts, cards, decorations, etc but by knowing more about Jesus and the purpose of His coming to this world.
Also speaking at the programme, minister for School Education & SCERT Nyeiwang Konyak urged the gathering to march ahead with new thoughts. Pointing out that except imaginary boundaries there was no real boundaries between any countries or tribes, he called upon all to work tirelessly with new vision and true spirit of Christianity.
Minister for forest, ecology, environmental & excise, and chairman DPDB Mon district M.C Konyak, advisor DUDA, E.E. Pangteang and DC Mon Dinesh Kumar, IAS also extended Christmas greetings and exhorted the gathering. Earlier, Invocation was proposed by Rev. J. Tenwang Konyak, Mon District Chaplain and Bible Reading by Mr. Nahngom konyak, Pastor, Konyak Baptist Church, Mon.
DMC : The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on Wednesday celebrated pre-Christmas at the office premises with Visasier Kevichusa delivering the Christmas message. Exhorting the gathering, DMC chief advisor Er. K. Keditsu informed that it was for the first time that a pre-Christmas celebration was being held for DMC members.
Opining that the everyday was like Christmas for Christians, the chief advisor urged the gathering to celebrate the festival in the right spirit. While underscoring the importance of peace in the Naga society, the chief advisor said Naga people often expected peace to come to them instead of working towards it. DMC CEO Nikhashe Sema also spoke on the topic ‘what Christmas means to me’. The function was attended by the staff and family members of DMC.
PUD: Phuyetomi Union Dimapur celebrated advent Christmas on December 4, sponsored and hosted by Kiyekhu Awomi at their residence at Chekiye Village, Dimapur. The highlights of the programme included presentation of dance item, folk song, memory verse recitation relating to Jesus’ birth and various comedians enthralled the congregation with jokes . Earlier, the programme commenced with invocation prayer by Yekhuli Awomi, welcome address by Kiyekhu Awomi, scripture reading by Khekugha Yepthomi and vote of thanks was pronounced by S. Toiho Yeptho. The occasion also witnessed Suniho sharing of the word of God and meaning of advent Christmas followed by a prayer.
KSU Bangalore: Konyak Students’ Union, (KSU) Bangalore, celebrated advent Christmas on December 5 at Chellikere, Bangalore on the theme ‘Unto us a child is born.” Highlights of the programme included scripture reading and prayer by Phopha, special number favored by Pelong and friends, exhortation speech by Manto, and the message “Preparation for the coming Christ” was delivered by K. Bechung Konyak, lecturer, Blessing Theological College.
SCFG: Sumi Christian Fellowship Guwahati (SCFG) celebrated pre-christmas on December 4 at L.M auditorium hall, CBCNEI mission compound Panbazar Guwahati. The programme was held on the theme “Prepare the way for the Lord” with education and youth secretary SBAK Aizuto Rev.Ghokuto Chishi as guest speaker, and lecturer Anderson theological college Shikato Khulu graced the occasion. The programme was attended by all MBBS, engineering, degree and PG students, and other professions with non-sumi friends, in-laws, and families led by Kughaho K.Chishi, Chaplain SCFG. Meanwhile, Morung hostel was declared as first in carol competition.
Aghunato town: Advent Christmas was celebrated on December 1, at Aghunato Town Baptist church. The event was organised by Pastor’s Union Aghunato town.
