National Consumer Day on Dec 24
DIMAPUR: Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) with the department of legal metrology and consumer protection would be conducting consumer rights awareness programme in view of the National Consumer Day on December 24. The programme would be held on the theme ‘Asset your rights’. Meanwhile, NVCO and Kohima Law College would be conducting legal awareness programme and a formal programme to welcome Justice of Gauhati High Court on December 9, 1.30 pm at hotel Japfü, Kohima. Further, in view of national consumer day NVCO would be releasing DVD on consumer problems with its remedies and also telecast rights under consumer protection Act, 1986 in Kohima during the Christmas season.
ANTA clarifies on formation of new union
DIMAPUR: Reacting to the press release on the formation of new taxi association and drivers union which was published in a local daily on December 7 issue, the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Kohima has requested all taxi owners not to pay any parking tax imposed by the unauthorized unions. ANTA reiterated that candidature for the post of ANTA general secretary Tohozhe has been disqualified by the ANTA election commission allegedly for violating ANTA election rules and regulations on December 4 in its meeting at Kohima. The association further requested the district administration to check and verify the unauthorized union for the interest of the public and the taxi operators.
GPRN/NSCN Lotha region cautions
DIMAPUR: Expressing concern that some people were reportedly using village funds for “undesirable activities in the night”, GPRN/NSCN Lotha region 37/AC Wokha has notified villagers that anyone found misusing village public properties would be strictly dealt with. A press release issued by GPRN/NSCN Lotha region “leacy” member in-charge 37/AC N. Motsuthung Ngullie also informed that “unnecessary movement” within the jurisdiction would be restricted after 8.30 pm, and further cautioned that any untoward incidents occurred would be at the risk of those violating the notice. Meanwhile, the region has extended Christmas and new year greetings to all the people under 37/AC.
One expelled from FGN
DIMAPUR: FGN Yimchunger region has expelled its “deputy leacy speaker” Tochim Yim from regional office due to “his unlawful activities” on December 6. Informing this, FGN Yimchunger region “leacy speaker” Throngso Yim stated that the expulsion was made as per FGN constitution and that Tochim Yim would not be acting/holding office duties from date of expulsion.
ANPSA Wokha informs private schools
DIMAPUR: All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Wokha unit has informed private schools under Wokha district not to admit transferred students without proper documents such as CR/no objection certificate (NOC) and also not to appoint transferred teachers without release order/NOC as per ANPSA constitution. Further, unit has requested all private schools under the district to register with the association for affiliation from the next academic year.
DIS Chozuba declares PSLC 2010 result
DIMAPUR: Deputy inspector of schools Chozuba has declared the results of class-IV (PSLC) exam 2010 under Chozuba jurisdiction. Out of 333 students who appeared the exam, 306 students have passed and the top three positions were secured by Tsüvolü of GPS Thipüzü A, Zacito of Chozuba village B and Bim Bahadur of GPS Chozuba village A respectively.
HDFC blood donation camp
DIMAPUR: HDFC Bank Dimapur would be organising a voluntary blood donation camp at the bank premises, Church Road near Plaza Bakery on December 10 in association with Dimapur Civil Hospital, as part of discharging its corporate social responsibilities. Branch manager, Bedanta Deka informed that blood donation would begin from 11 am onwards and requested the public to attend the camp.
Singti (Sitimi) area crusade held
KIPHIRE: Singti Area Sangtam Pastors’ Fellowship held a revival Crusade from December 3-5 at Singti (Sitimi) town with Er.Sao Sangtam Engineer DUDA Kohima and P.Alem principal Oriental Theological College Yangli as resource persons and pastors of Singti area as camp directors while councilors were from Langzang village Baptist Church. More than 265 believers attended the crusade. Meanwhile, T. Lithrong Chairman of Singti (Sitimi) Area Pastor Fellowship expressed gratitude to all participants for their cooperation and help during the crusade.
Trg on communitization
DIMAPUR: A one-day training on communitization was conducted by district health society Zunheboto on December 6 at Government Higher Secondary School Zunheboto. Resource persons were Dr. K. Assumi, additional director H&FW, Amongla deputy director nursing, Dr. Hokishe deputy CMO and Dr. Alemwabang DIO. Village health committee chairmen/ANMs/HCMC members attended the training.
Kohima DPDB meeting
DIMAPUR: Kohima District Planning & Development Board has rescheduled its monthly meeting on December 10, 12.30 p.m. in the conference hall of DC Kohima along with bankers of Kohima district to deliberate on the issue of poor recovery of loans and CD ratio with other agendas of the board.
In this connection DC and vice chairman DPDB Kohima Beiu Angami has requested all bankers of the district to send their representatives to highlight the board with relevant information for further information to the government. Further BDOs of Kohima, Tseminyu, Chiephobozou and Jakhama have been requested to be prepared to present departmental reports.
Dimapur: Patkai alumni of Kyong community would be organizing a memorial service on December 18 to honour its late members who were the victims of December 18 bomb blast, Satsüphen under Wokha district. All past and present students of PCC, parents, Kyong students’ union officials have been requested to attend the 10th anniversary memorial service.
Indian folklore Congress: The 34th meet of Indian folklore Congress (IFC) on the theme ‘Folklore, ethnicity and identify’ would be held from December 9-11 at ATI, Kohima. The inaugural function would be graced by Khekiye Sema, and key note address would be delivered by Prof Jawaharlal Handoo, president IFC.
KLSU 48th annual session: Khukiye Lukhai Students’ union (KLSU) would be celebrating its 48th annual session on from December 28 to 30 with Nitovi Aye ex-president as chief guest and Phutovi Jimo as the main speaker. All students have been informed to reach the village before December 10.
Toyota car loan mela: Gargya Toyota, Guwahati in collaboration with HDFC Bank, Dimapur would be organizing Toyota car loan mela at Hotel Saramati on December 9 and 10. Deepak Mudoi (Sales Officer) of Gargya Toyota , Guwahati and Haroon, marketing manager would be attending the mela. Informing this, HDFC Bank Dimapur branch manager, Bedanta Deka has asked the citizens of Dimapur and Nagaland to participate in the car loan mela and take advantage of the event.
SSU golden jubilee: Shemnyuuching Students’ Union (SSU) would be celebrating its golden jubilee on December 14 and 15 under the theme ‘The task ahead’ with Y Nuklu, executive secretary PBCA (Phom Baptist Christian Association) as the main speaker. All the federating units under Phom Students’ Conference Longleng District have been requested to attend the programme.
CSU biannual conference deferred: Chiechama Students’ Union (CSU) has informed that the 57th and 1st Biannual Conference of CSU schedule to be held on December 13 and 14 has been postponed to December 21 and 22.

VC declares Ph.D result: Vice Chancellor, NU, has declared Jano S Liegise provisionally qualified for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in English which was subject to ratification by academic and executive council of the university. The topic of the thesis was ‘The role of tradition and individual talent in Thomas Hardy’s fiction and poetry: A critical study’ with supervisor Dr. A J Sebastian sdb.

TBPA general session held: Tikhir Baptist Piti Atiikheanti (TBPA) held its 29th general session from December 3-5 at Sangkumti Village under the theme ‘Let God be first in all’. Around 3000 people from all Tikhir Villages attended the programme.
DRDA Dimapur informs: In view of the North East Agri Expo commencing from December 15-19, Project Director, DRDA Dimapur has informed all the selected farmers of Agri and allied department under Dimapur district to report to Vision Home Higher Secondary School at 4th mile on December 14, 5 pm.
USU emergency meeting: Usutomi Students’ Union (USU) golden jubilee planning board has convened an emergency meeting on December 10, 10 am at the residence of Chairman Er Kahoshe Shohe, PWD Colony Kohima.
YAWD and teaching staff joint meeting: All teaching staff, and executive members of Youth Association of Wokha District (YAWD) has been convened for 2nd joint meeting on December 12 at the residence of convenor teaching staff YAWD Aremo Ezung, Officer hill colony Wokha at 3 pm. Meanwhile, YAWD has informed interested students to undergo free coaching classes to collect forms from N.S computer point and Uniform house at Wokha from December 13 onwards.
SJP informs district presidents: In view of national executive meeting that would be held at Delhi, Socialist Janata Party (SJP) Nagaland state unit has informed all district presidents to submit lists of office bearers on or before December 15. National president and vice president would be main speakers during the meeting wherein president and general secretary of 28 states would represent the meeting.
DKSU silver jubilee: Dimapur Khensa Students’ Union (DKSU) would be celebrating silver jubilee (1985-2010) on December 10, 11 am at IMC Hall, Fellowship Colony. Land resource and mission director Nagaland bio—resource, joint director Moatoshi Longkumer would be the chief guest and Dr. N Tiameren Ao, assistant professor NU, SASRD the speaker.
TSU golden jubilee: Tsadang Students’ Union (TSU) would be celebrating 50th anniversary on December 28 and 29 on the theme “Hope of nation”. L. Kingkha, Rtd SDO (PWD) Dimapur would grace the occasion as a chief guest. The union has invited officials of United Sangtam Students’ Conference, Chare Area Students’ Union and Longkhim Division Students’ Union at the celebration. Further, two delegates each from all village and town students’ union within Longkhim and Chare division have been informed to attend the programme and informed all students’ and planning committee to reach the village on or before December 15.

Kohima Municipal Council Kohima would grace the inaugural function as the chief guest and Toiho Swu, Evangelist SABAK the main speaker. Union has informed all 1st division holders to submit photo copy of mark sheet to any of the executive members.
ENSA general conference: 3rd general conference of Eastern Naga Students Association (ENSA) will held from December 10 to 12 at Chen Hoyat village Konyak region on the theme “Venturing New Vision”, with Myiahkhu chairman, Naga Yuya and Khoiwang , president Konyak Union as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Soul Harvest for Christ Ministry : The Soul Harvest for Christ Ministry will hold its 2nd ministry meet form December 10 to 12 at Soul Harvest Church of the Living God.
4th NAP inaugurates children’s park
DIMAPUR: 4th NAP battalion Thizama inaugurated children’s park with commissioner and secretary L.Kire IFS as chief guest on December 4.
The chief guest in his speech expressed joy and appreciated the commandant and all ranks of the unit for initiating and making use of the beautiful landscape and greeneries as resort platform for the children.
The programme was chaired by adjutant Aboli Metha and gratitude was delivered by deputy commandant 4th NAP Bn Vekhosa Kotso.
Meanwhile, unit commandant Joseph Hesso has expressed gratitude to K.Kire (IPS) DGP, chief guest, and all ranks for their efforts and supports in bringing about the children’s park.
Directives for NE Agri expo
DIMAPUR: In connection with NE Agri Expo to be held from December 15 to 19 at Dimapur, director rural development Metsubo Jamir has informed all project directors to take necessary action on priority basis. Project directors have ben informed to tie-up with ATMA team leader of district for organizing the farmers; to send 1 liaison officer for each contingent, departure from their respective districts to Dimapur will be at 6 am on December 14; Kohima, Peren, Wokha to identify for progressive VDBs to man the rural marketing stalls along with products to be sold. The department also informed that 6 stalls are allotted for Dimapur district and 5 stalls are reserved for other districts that are interested to send their participants to agri expo for selling their products; cost of transportation of buses along with TA would be provided by the government on the date of travel; all farmers to bring beddings along with mosquito nets; accommodation allotment will be informed through local newspapers. Further, farmers have been informed to arrive at Dimapur on the 14 December.
DHD to conduct health mela at Medziphema
DIMAPUR: District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) would be conducting free health mela on December 10 starting 9 a.m at Medziphema community health centre. The health mela would be providing multi-specialty services wherein medical officers specializing in medicine, surgery, mother and child, ENT, eye, gyneacology, AYUSH, homeopathy etc., would be available for consultation and treatment. Free laboratory tests and treatment for TB, malaria, leprosy and HIV and AIDS would be available. Laparoscopic sterilization for women and non-cutting vasectomy for men would also be performed as a part of family planning programme. Further, a press note issued by DC and chairman district health society Maongwati Aier and CMO and member secretary district health society Dr. Sukhato A. Sema informed that health camp is being organised with the goal to universalize access to public health services, reduce infant and maternal mortality rate, prevent and control communicable and non-communicable diseases, to stabilize population and promote healthy lifestyle.
LEH inaugurates new RCC building
DIMAPUR: Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) Wokha inaugurated its first ever two-storeyed RCC building with executive secretary Kyong baptist Ekhumkho Sanrhyu (KBES) Rev.Dr.E.Nrio Ezung as chief guest on November 30. The building was constructed from funds donated by various well wishers, amounting to above Rs.14 lakhs under the chairmanship of R.Zuchopeni Ezung assisted by office bearers. Meanwhile, in a release, Rikhyo K.Lotha has expressed gratitude and has further extended hope that God would bless all those who have actively initiated and participated for the success of the construction.
