Health mela at Medziphema

Mission director NRHM and secretary health and family welfare, T. Limsong on Friday called upon the denizens of Medziphema to avail and utilize health services provided by the government.
Speaking at the one-day, free health mela at Medziphema CHC sponsored by National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), mission director said doctors and nurses at their respective health centers remain idle as the people of the area do not utilize their services.
Underscoring that the government was providing all necessary health requirements for the people at affordable prices, Limsong encouraged the gathering present at the health mela to avail those facilities instead of running after private hospitals. With positive response from the people, mission director appealed those present at the mela to spread awareness of health services in their respective areas.
It may be mentioned that the free health mela was organized to provide actual health services to the people who have limited access to health facilities.
Chief Medical Officer Dimapur, Dr. Sukhato A. Sema in his speech said melas known as “Parivar Kalyan Avam Swasthya Melas” were aimed at providing quality services, with converging and integrated delivery of services for all segments of population.
According to CMO, health care services at the mela involved national programmes for control of tuberculosis, malaria, blindness, leprosy, cancer, HIV and AIDS and various services relating to maternal health, child health, immunization and family planning.
A total of 420 people availed free medicines and health check-up at the mela.
Meanwhile, the organizer of the health mela thanked the 20th Assam Rifles for their contribution and support.
