Inauguration of Pungro ground
KOHIMA: Inaugural function of Pungro ground gallery constructed under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) would be held on December 15, 9 am at Pungro local ground. Advisor DUDA, E.E. Pangteang, would grace the occasion as chief guest. Parliamentary secretary for CAW T. Torechu would exhort the gathering.
Work-charged salaries delayed
KOHIMA: The work charged employees of power department have been deprived of their salary at Christmas time for three consecutive years. The work-charged employees, bonafide members of All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association, informed they were denied their due salary every year during Christmas and thus created inconvenience to the members. The association in a press note issued by its president Panger Pongen further informed that a representation has been submitted to the government on December 3 for immediate release of salary before Christmas. The association stated that it would take its own course of action if the request was not considered by the government.
LPG connection in Kohima: MARCOFED Kohima has informed LPG consumers that double cylinders LPG connection would be issued across the table during Christmas season. It also informed all existing customers of MARCOFED, Kohima registered up to 2009 to collect additional cylinders submitting their original subscription voucher to the office at NAPO Building, Kezieke.
STK ‘Thinuo Day’: Sogotsumia Thinuo Krotho (STK) would be observing its annual ‘Thinuo Day’ on December 15, 10am at Village Council Hall, Chiechama Village. Kelhousilie Sanchu (Rtd. Asst. Director), Keduokholie Dzeyie, and Rüu Sogotsu would be addressing the function. All members of Sogotsumia Thinuo Krotho, sisters and brother-in-laws, and well wishers have been informed to attend the occasion.
LMRSU silver jubilee: Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) would be celebrating its 25th anniversary on December 13 and 14. The union has informed all its affiliated units to attend the jubilee with membership fee of Rs.5 per head.
TVSU general session: The 58th general session of Thüvopisumi Students’ Union (TVSU) would be held from December 27-29 at Rostrum court, Thuvopisu. Er. Vekho Swuro, executive engineer CAWD will grace the occasion as chief guest while Veralu Dozo would be the session speaker on the theme “Thinking and growing together”.
KNCS pre-Christmas cum picnic : Kyong Naga Cultural Society (KNCS) will be celebrating pre-Christmas-cum-picnic at Lotha Chümpo (Morung), Kisama Naga Heritage village on December 11.
Zunheboto town silver jubilee celebration : Zunheboto town silver jubilee would be celebrated on the December 13, 10 am at Town Hall Zunheboto with minister road & bridges G. Kaito Aye as chief guest.Deputy commissioner and chairman organizing committee has informed all former council members of Zunheboto Town Council and special invitees to attend the programme.
YSU 44th general session: Yikhum Students’ Union (YSU) would hold its 44th general session on December 27 and 28 with district evaluation officer Wokha, Ren Z. Odyuo as chief guest.
HMHP pre-Christmas: Healing Ministry for Handicapped People (HMHP) would be celebrating 19th pre-Christmas service on December 11 at 11am at Railway station parking place with handicapped people. All former founding members, board members, and registered members, brothers and sisters in Christ have been invited on the occasion.
NDBA golden jubilee committee meeting: Nagaland DBs Association (NDBA) has convened the last executive council-cum- golden jubilee planning committee meeting on December 14 at conference hall, DB guest house Kohima at 11am. All sub-committee members of the committee, PA to DCs, district head DBs and office bearers of NDBA have been asked to attend the meeting.
KASU meeting: Khaghaboto Area Students’ Union (KASU) has convened an emergency meeting on December 11 at the residence of its banker, Khaghaboto town at 10:30am. All executives, advisors, former executive members, and all unit presidents and general secretaries have been requested to attend the meeting.

CBCK appeals to commuters: In view of its golden jubilee celebration scheduled for December 11 and 12, Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima (CBCK) has requested the public, neighbours and vehicles commuting through CBCK area to bear with traffic inconvenience during the two day programme. A press release issued by the Chairman of the Organising Committee, V. Nuh further appealed to the public for cooperation for the same.
WVGEU 16th annual conference : Wokha Village Government Employees’ Union (WVGEU) has convened its 16th annual conference on December 28 at Wokha village ground with Er Mhathung Kikon, Assistant Engineer CAWD Wokha as the speaker.
PNSU 48th annual session : Phuye New Students’ Union (PNSU) has convened its 48th annual session on December 18-19 at Phuye New Village on the theme ‘Competitive era’ with Ahoto Achumi, president Zunheboto district co-operative societies union as the speaker.
OCSU 61st annual session: Old Changsu Students’ Union (OCSU) has convened its 61st annual session on December 27-28 under the theme ‘Value of mother tongue and education’. C Hachio Patton, PS to Parliamentary Secretary, Geology & Mining I&FC and Border Affairs Nagaland would be the chief guest and Ekyimo Odyuo, Project Assistant SSA Wokha as the theme speaker. All students and elders have been requested to attend the session. Meanwhile, President OCSU has informed all the executive members that an executive meeting would be held on December 21, 4:30pm at the union’s office.
PPKK 36th annual session : Pughoboto Phughi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (PPKK) has convened its 36th annual session from December 28-30 under the theme ‘Onward with vision’ with Er Ghonito Swu, SDO DRDA Phek as chief guest and James Swu, Youth Secretary SABAK as the speaker.
GVSU 20th general conference: Gariphema Village Students’ Union (GVSU) has convened its 20th general conference on December 22, 10am at village council hall with Thejao Vihienuo, former registrar Nagaland University as the chief guest.
State level essay competition on energy awareness: Minister for power & election Doshehe Sema would be gracing state level essay competition on ‘Lighting the way, Energy efficient way’ to be held on December 14 on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day, at department of power chief engineer’s office, below AG office Kohima from 9 am to 10 am. Informing this, Nagaland State Designated Agency chief electrical inspector stated that the competition was being organized in collaboration with central ministry of power, bureau of energy efficiency. Cash prizes of Rs.10,000, Rs.8000, Rs.5000 would be awarded to the top three positions while 10 consolation winners would be awarded Rs.1000 each. Department has invited all 50 selected students to participate in the competition.
AYO pre-Christmas celebration: Angami Youth Organization (AYO) would be celebrating its pre-Christmas celebration on December 11 at T. L. Angami Park, New Chumukedima. All office bearers of the regional units and presidents and general secretaries of the village units of AYO have been requested to attend the programme.
DIS Dimapur informs adhoc grade-IV staff : All adhoc grade-IV staff under deputy inspector of schools (DIS) Dimapur have been informed to submit necessary documents such as appointment order, latest service extension, educational qualification and three copies of passport size photo to DIS office Dimapur on or before December 30 during office houRs. DIS stated that documents were required to conduct suitability test for service regularization for those who have completed three years or more of service.
NMA Christmas greetings
DIMAPUR, DEC 10 (NPN): Extending heartiest Christmas greetings to all, the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) Friday expressed hope that the celebration would strengthen integration and foster the feeling of brotherhood and mutual understanding amongst the citizens and bring prosperity, happiness and tranquility in the society.
A statement from NMA has also appealed to the people to preserve the unique celebration of Christmas and absorb in self-reflection and prayer and to keep the spirit of Christmas and “the values taught by Jesus to be visible.”
“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us have a heart of forgiveness upon each other and cement one’s relationship with God,” the Naga mothers said and wished all “Happy Christmas and a year of blessings ahead.”
