HDFC Bank Dimapur branch organized a blood donation camp on Friday at the bank premises with blood bank in-charge, Dr. Temsu, District Hospital Dimapur overseeing the camp.
This was part of HDFC Bank’s fourth such nationwide annual blood donation camp. Around 24 persons including individual donors and bank executives donated blood at the bank today.
It was estimated that donors in 350 Indian cities donated blood at over 475 designated centres from 9am to 5pm on Friday, believed to be one of the nation’s biggest single-day blood donation campaigns.
The Bank had tied up with major hospitals and blood banks across these centers for technical assistance.
The Bank started this initiative in 2007 when over 4000 volunteers came forward for a national cause. Since then, the camp has grown in size and stature.
In the very first year over 4000 units of blood was collected.
Progressively in 2008 over 9000 units and in 2009 over 13,500 units were collected.
