DC Mon voices concern over domestic violence

DC Mon Dinesh Kumar on Friday stressed on the important role of NGOs and stakeholders in eliminating violence against women in the society.
Addressing the gathering at the programme on 11th anniversary of international day for elimination of violence against women at DC’s Conference hall Mon, Dinesh Kumar said “no justification is a valid justification against violence on women”.
He stated that domestic violence was the most prevalent violence in the society today, but most of the cases go unreported and therefore urged for spreading more awareness among men and women to do away with domestic violence.
He also highlighted the fundamental rights and rights of women in case of arrest.
He lauded the KNSK and NWC for organising such a programme which would help spread more awareness.
The programme was organised by NWC and KNSK. vice president KNSK, Lomei chaired the programme. Earlier, deacon KBCM, Wangnyem pronounced the invocation prayer and key note address by member NSWC, SP Ellen. Short speeches were also delivered by CMO Mon, ADC Mon (Hq), and KNSK president.
Stakeholders, government officials, NGOs, ward representatives and Church leaders attended the programme.
