Highlighting the problems faced by the students of Nagaland University Meriema Campus Kohima (NUMCK), the Tenyimia Post Graduate Students’ Union (TPGSU) Meriema Campus on Thursday appealed the authority responsible to appoint a pro-vice chancellor immediately for Meriema Campus and provide necessary infrastructures.
TPGSU (NUMCK) in a faxed statement by its president, Vesekho Khesoh and general secretary, Keduolhoueinuo Khro alleged that despite improper infrastructures, the departments were shifted to Meriema Campus, and that the vice-chancellor had turned a deaf ear to the cries of students at Meriema campus after the headquarter was shifted to Lumami campus.
Elucidating their stand in demanding a pro-vice-chancellor, TPGSU (NUMCK) highlighted the complexity a student has to got through by staying overnight at Lumami just to enquire about a minor form.
Furthermore, having to put up with over-crowded boarding buses due to insufficient bus services to cater to the needs of the students, and ill-equipped library, the TPGSU (NUMCK) questioned the vice chancellor whether he was in any way concerned about the welfare of the students.
While reacting to VC’s statement published in this local daily on November 13 with regard to “recruiting faculty members” before his term came to an end, the students wondered what made him wait for the “last moment” while in actual he was posted for a term of 5 years.
Taking all these grievances into account, TPGSU (NUMCK) has appealed the authority responsible to immediately appoint a pro-vice chancellor for Meriema Campus besides others necessary infrastructures required by the students.
