4 extortionists held

Four persons, including one FGN activist, have been apprehended by Assam Rifles and police in Dimapur during the past one week. One FGN activist was apprehended this morning by 24 Assam Rifles personnel while conducting MVCP here at Purana Bazar, police said. FGN tax collection receipts and a mobile phone were recovered from the arrested identified as one “lt” Tohuvi Sema, of Natsami village. Dimapur police PRO, in a press release, stated that accused was produced to East PS Dimapur along with the seized items and a case registered. Meanwhile, the 24 AR personnel November 13 had also arrested two persons from Blue Hill area Dimapur and recovered arms and ammunition besides cash from their possession. The accused, identified as Veneisu Venuh and Kusheta Kezo, both from Phek village, were apprehended on charges of possessing one .22 pistol, five rounds of .22 (live) ammunition and Rs. 1,19,900 in cash. The arrested, along with seized items, were produced at East PS Dimapur and a case registered under Arms Act 1959, the police PRO said. On that same day, another person was apprehended by Dimapur police at Dimapur while allegedly collecting tax from shopkeepers at City Tower area. 56 nos. of identity slips and five household and members of non-locals’ 2010-11 census slips along with Rs.500 were recovered from the possession of the arrested person, identified as one Albert Awomi of Alato village. A case was registered under section 348 of IPC at East PS Dimapur, the police said.
