Mass social work in Kma, Dmu

With Hornbill Festival and Christmas season fast approaching, a mass ‘Cleanliness Drive’ was organized Friday in the state capital and Dimapur.
In Kohima different government departments took part in the social work, while various colonies members also took active part in cleaning up their respective colonies.
The mass social work was successfully conducted under the directive of the chief secretary Nagaland with active participation of all government departments, Kohima Municipal Council, NGOs and general public.
Employees turned out in huge numbers with their respective heads of departments and were seen actively participating in cleaning the town at different sites and main junctions.
Further, some departments in particular, mobilized their personnel along with working implements along national highways and main roads.
30 personnel from Home Guards & Civil Defense were attached to trucks and tippers and carried out work along the stretch from PHQ Point to Old Ministers’ Hill via Jail- BSNL Office. 31 volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra and 20 personnel from the PWD were also attached to trucks and tippers and carried out their assigned work.
A working committee was earlier constituted to oversee the mass social work led by ADC Kohima Alun Hangsing as overall in-charge, SDO (Sadar) Tarep Imchen as convenor and revenue officer Kovi Meyase as co-convenor.
A control room was also set up at DC’s office Kohima for carrying out the social work smoothly. Sector Magistrates were also detailed in all locations for effective functioning. The social work started at 9 a.m. and continued till the waste and garbage were all disposed off. All the colony panchayats also organized social work in their own colonies.
DC Kohima Bei-u Angami and the working committee have thanked all government departments for extending co-operation towards the mass social work through their active participation, and all ward panchayats, GBs, DBs and the general public for their support and participation.
Meanwhile, in Dimapur also, a mass social work was successfully carried out with active participation of government employees, Dimapur Municipal Council, NGOs, business establishments and public in all the wards.
People took part in the mass social cleanliness drive following the directive issued by DC Dimapur, Maongwati Aier and DMC CEO Nikhashe Sema November 18 last.
Residents of various colonies including Khermahal, Tragopan junction area, Burma Camp, Flyover, Eros Lane, Nyamo Lotha Road, Midland, Duncan Bosti, Notun Bosti, DC’s office area etc, came out to clean their respective surroundings, roads and drainages during the cleanliness drive.
MLA and advisor for sericulture and co-operation Azheto Zhimomi also participated in the social work and went around the town along with DMC chief advisor, DC Dimapur, SP Dimapur and other officials to observe the cleaning activities.
Meanwhile, the district administration has thanked the citizens of Dimapur for the co-operation extended in order to keep the town and its colonies and residential areas clean.
