Microlight expedition passes M’laya

Three microlight aircrafts of Army Aero Nodal Centre (AANC) Gaya, touched at Umroi airport today from Guwahati and left for Imphal at 1230 hrs, a defence statement said.
The AANC under the aegis of Army Adventure Wing is conducting an All India Microlight Flying Expedition passing through all the state capitals and union territories of the country.
The expedition was flagged off on November 19 from Gaya and is going to culminate with an Aero show on December 8 to coincide with the 9th reunion and the celebrations of 250 years of the Army Service Corps at Bangalore.
The 12340 Km expedition is undertaken by three micro lights aircrafts namely Zen Air, X-Air (F) and X-Air (Hanuman). The expedition will attempt to create a number of records which includes longest distance covered in a single day and in 13 days in formation, longest distance covered in the North- East India region in four days and largest under slung banner during the Air Show at Bangalore.
Lt Col BM Talwar, Team Leader of the Microlight expedition was received and seen off by Col Rana Pratap Kalita, Deputy Commandant of Umroi Military Station at Umroi airport which was cheered by a number of students from Army School Umroi Cantonment.
