PLA rebel killed, 3 nabbed in Mnp

Assam Rifles killed a PLA rebel during an encounter at Tuitam Khongkhai village under Chakpikarong, Monday morning around 3.30 am, even as a rifleman of the Manipur Rifles along with a woman were nabbed by a team of Police Commandos with 24 saving bank accounts with fake names in separate counter insurgency operations in the last 24-hour. Troops 8 Assam Rifles handed over a bullet riddled dead body to Lamphel police, Imphal said to be that of a rebel killed in a gunfight with the troops late yesterday evening.
AR also claimed to have recovered an M-16 rifle with five magazines containing 100 live rounds, a rucksack and a pouch from the slain militant, said a police officer on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in another counter operation launched on Sunday by Bishnupur police commandos nabbed personnel of the 8th Manipur Rifles along with a female KCP (MC)-Lamngakpa group activist with the seizure of 24 saving bank accounts with fake names.
They were identified as rifleman Md Salatur Rahaman (24) son of late Md Tomba of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai and the woman activist Ningombam Premila Devi alias Ibecha alias Victoria (35) wife of N Boyai Singh of New Bazar, Churachandpur. The SP said that during the course of investigation, the arrested cadres were found working directly under one Oinam Shyam Singh for the last one and a half year and actively involved in collection of extortion money .
