Hornbill festival to be telecast live
DIMAPUR: The opening ceremony of the Hornbill festival will be telecast live in DD NE Channel on December 1. The telecast will also include daily 30minutes highlights of the programme w.e.f. December 2 to 8 from 7:30pm to 8pm in DDK, Kohima and 9pm to 9:30pm from DD NE Channel. This is the first time that the Hornbill festival would be aired on national television live, stated an official bulletin.
Programme on livelihood for unemployed
DIMAPUR: Maple Society Chumukedima organized programme on livelihood for unemployed youth SHGs at Chumukedima on November 19 and Sovima village on November 20. More than 70 youths participated in the programme. Maple Society in this reagrd thanked resource persons from ICAR Jharnapani for imparting services for the community.
TSU social activity
DIMAPUR: Totok Chingha Students’ Union (TSU) Mon has called for social work at Totok Chingha village on November 29. The mass social activity has been organised for the forthcoming TSU golden jubilee that would be held from December 17-19. All citizens and TSU office bearers have been requested to be in station before November 28.
LDCU formed
DIMAPUR: Longleng District Co-operative Society Union (LDCU) was formed on November 10 with SRCS Longleng Tiyongmeren Ao as guest of honour. LDCU further informed that a new team of office bearers led by president Y.B Angam, vice president C Kampogn, and general secretary S. Niampong among three other members have been elected for the tenure 2010-13. Meanwhile, the union has expressed gratitude to the department for nominating Y.B Angam Phom as board of director for Longleng district to Nagaland Co-operative Bank Ltd.
ANPSA Kohima conduct essay competition
DIMAPUR: All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Kohima unit organized an essay competition on the topic ‘How to keep Kohima clean’ on October 24 with a view to create awareness to students to inculcate the habit of cleanliness. Prakriti Tamang of Mezhür Higher Secondary School was adjudged as winner of the competition while Medemrenla Tzudir of Little Flower School and Harsh Kumar Jha of Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School came second and third respectively.
VHND at Longching
DIMAPUR: With the intention of providing better health services to the people especially women and children, a village health and nutrition day (VHND) was held at Longching village of Aboi Block under Mon district on November 21. During the VHND, a total of 310 OPD were conducted; immunization given and mosquito nets were distributed as well. ASHAs and departmental staff also participated in the VHND. The health workers were led by Dr. T. Kikon, CMO, Dr. Joy Rongmei, Dy.CMO and Dr. Vijay Kumar, MO Tangnyu.
Health mela at Tseminyu
KOHIMA: A one day health mela cum health camp and free sterilization camp was held on November 19 at Tseminyu Community Health Centre, inaugurated by Ahola Those, ADC Tseminyu.
Village leaders, VHC chairmen and public of the village attended the programme. Different services were provided during the camp, while medicines were distributed free of cost.
About 340 patients were examined, where some underwent blood test, sputum collection, and 28 underwent sterilization which was performed by Dr. Atoshe and team from Naga Hospital Authority Kohima. Condoms, contraceptive pills and IEC materials were distributed.
The team was led by Dr L. Ralte, CMO Kohima and other district officials. The camp was sponsored by NRHM, department of health and family welfare.
