Capacity building training for VHC/ANM/HCMC on communitization was conducted at Peren on November 26.
Officials from health and family welfare consisting of Dr. Toshevi Sema, additional director and nodal officer i/c Peren district and Ayangla, deputy director Nursing Kohima attended the training.
Dr. Toshevi in the introductory session lauded the various development works carried out under the supervision of the health committees since the implementation of communitization in the district, and further noted that she could see the changes from the power point presented by the CMO, Dr. L. Kuotsu.
Dr. L. Kuotsu and Dr. Tiala Longkumer deputy CMO Peren stressed on the roles and responsibilities of HCMCs and VHCs and further encouraged them to be a good link between the department and the community. Ayangla, who spoke with the ANMs encouraged them to be stationed in their posting places as they were the only service providers at the grass root level.
She further urged them to organize regular village health and nutrition day (VHND) covering all the villages and provide regular immunization.
A resolution was also made on the day by the health committees to strengthen immunization to 100% and conduct VHND in all the villages; and to construct one staff quarter each as community participation, in the health centers where there are no staff quarters.
The house further appealed the higher authority to provide vehicle for MOs especially for 24x7 health center MOs to make it functional round the clock. Altogether 90 VHC/ANM/HCMC attended the training.
