A bomb exploded Saturday near the residence of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution minister, Y Erabot Singh at Khurai Thangjam Leikai under Porompat Police Station, wounding one person.
Police said the bomb was exploded when the Thounaojam Angouba (33) son of Th Ibobi of Khurai Thangjam Leikai was fishing at a pond nearby the minister’s residence.
He sustained splinter injuries on the right leg. He was admitted to JNIMS Hospital.
However, his condition is out of danger, said sources from the hospital.Police suspected the bomb to be a lathod left out in one of the attacks launched by militants at the house of the minister.
Meanwhile, Lamphel police of Imphal West district recovered a Chinese made hand grenade near the residential gate of director of state Commerce and Industries, Thaithuilung Pamei at Chingmeirong west on December 23.
Three youth suspected to be KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) activists hurled the bomb around 8.30 am on the same day with an intention to explode and cause damage and loss to human life, police alleged.
A suo-motu case has been registered against unknown KCP activists under section 307/304 IPC, 20 UA(P)A Act and 4 Explosive Substance Act of the Lamphel Police Station, official source said on Sunday.
