The Stead Fast daily Monday made a spot survey of the ongoing transformation works of several roads and viaducts connecting the venue of 80th annual conference of Sri. Simanta Sankardeva Sangha to be held at Bokuliaghat.
It may be mentioned that 80th annual convention of Simanta Sankardeva would be held at Joy Hori Khetra of Halodiati village under Bokulia locality, from February 9. For smooth facilitation of the prestigious symposium, renewal works of roads connecting Bokuliaghat Tiniali and Joy Hori Khetra running through Halodiati village are moving at a rapid pace.
Talking to this correspondent, Shom, executive engineer of Bokulia PWD roads division informed that ongoing works have only reached a preliminary state. Till now, completion of Granular Sub Basing (GSB) of all roads have been achieved with few culverts and temporary bridges already laid.
Shom expressing surprise over the news item published in a vernacular daily from Diphu claiming the expenditure against construction of these roads are being incurred by PWD department from the so called “Chief Minister’s Assistance” fund, said the allegation was just a figment of imagination.
Shom further clarified that the PWD had no knowledge of “Chief Minister’s Assistance” fund. He mentioned that till now even official plan and estimate against ongoing construction works have not been finalized. Bokulia PWD Road Division has submitted detail plan and estimate for carrying out the entire work to office of superintending Engineer, PWD (Road) Division, Diphu, for forwarding to higher authority.
He also mentioned that ever since plan and estimate was yet to be officially decided, approval of entire amount needed for completion of the road renovation works did not arise from Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
Shom said PWD department can only consider from which fund or head of account the expenditure against these works can be carried out once the plan and estimate was finalized.
