The Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) ongoing probe into the alleged financial irregularities in the Commonwealth Games gained pace on Tuesday as it summoned Suresh Kalmadi’s close aide Lalit Bhanot to its office for further investigation, reports Zee News.
The CBI had earlier also questioned Bhanot and many other Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CWG OC) officials regarding the scam. However, the fresh questioning is the result of raid conducted by the investigation team at OC office as well as the residences of Kalmadi and his aides, which is expected to open a new can of worms.
Sources reveal that CWG OC chief Kalmadi may also be called at the CBI head office for questioning. Earlier in the day, the CBI questioned Kalmadi’s personal assistant Manoj Bhore regarding his role in irregularities related to the Queen’s Baton Relay in London.
Bhore’s house had been raided by the CBI on 25th December and the investigation team had seized the hard disk of his personal computer. The investigation team went through Bhore’s flat in Chikhalwadi area of Khadki, scanning the computer and flipping through files and documents on Friday.
