URF thanksgiving service
DIMAPUR: United Revival Fellowship (URF) Dimapur unit would be holding its Goalpara Assam mission thanksgiving service on January 9 at Thilixu Baptist church, block 3. Rev Dr Hevukhu, director SBC, Hevikhe Awomi, Joint Director, Soil Conservation Dimapur would be the resource persons. All URF board members, prayer warriors and sponsors have been requested to attend the service.
SDBM to conduct Vipassana meditation
DIMAPUR: Society of Dhamma Bodhi and Meditation (SDBM) would be organizing Vipassana meditation gypsy camp from January 23 to February 3, 2011 at Kevijau village Signal bosti Dimapur. The course would be imparted on ‘Art of living’ by an assistant teacher nominated by Acharya S.N Goenka, Vipassana research institute, Maharashtra. All interested aspirants from north eastern region belonging to the age group of 18 years and above may participate the camp wherein selection would be made on first come first serve basis. ERSU 23rd general conference
DIMAPUR: Englan Range Students’ Union (ERSU) would be holding its 23rd general conference on January 7 at New Changsu village. Y Patton, Parliamentary Secretary, Irrigation & Flood Control, Geology & Mining, Border Affairs, Nagaland and Y Chothungo Tungoe, Advocate Dimapur Bar Association would be the chief guest and speaker with the theme ‘Building a sustainable society’. Transportation would be available for those wishing to attend the programme on January 7 at police point Wokha at 6:30am.
AMPC Wokha plea to exempt taxes
DIMAPUR: Agricultural Produce Marketing committee (APMC) Wokha has appealed to the in-charge of police check gates, municipal and town council toll tax gates to exempt taxation and allow free movement to the license traders, challan holders issued by APMC Wokha.
APMC Wokha chairman, Ekhow Kikon in a press note reiterated that as per provision laid down by Nagaland agricultural (development and regulation) Act 2005 and Nagaland Agricultural produce marketing (general) rules 2006, and government notification on March 25, 2009, license traders on commodities of agriculture and allied produce are permitted to move freely across all check gates within Nagaland and that no taxation would be levied from such license traders.
The APMC Wokha chairman also invited interested persons from Wokha district to obtain license from APMC Wokha with nominal fee to deal with the agricultural and allied commodities.
Kiphire drug users’ forum formed
KIPHIRE: Kiphire drug users’ forum was formed on December 23 at IBAPWO conference hall Kiphire Town. The Forum would comprise of present and recovering drug users in and around Kiphire town.
The Forum aims to tackle complex issues and problems concerning drug users and to fight for their rights (Human rights issues) as drugs users.
According to sessional secretary James Sangtam, the house also nominated an interim body to look after the affairs of the Forum till further notice. The meeting was chaired by S.Moa Sangtam ORW, IBAPWO, TI project.
