Zhavame Women Society established in the year 1985 celebrated its 24 anniversary on Tuesday at public gallery, Zhavame village on the theme “Work together to accomplish more”.
Speaking on the occasion, parliamentary secretary for social welfare and women development Chotisuh Sazo appreciated the pivotal role played by Naga women individually and collectively in helping their communities survive and for enabling human development across Naga society.
He said women have achieved a lot but a lot more needed to be done.
He expressed that it was the task of women organizations to bring awareness for the need to excel at national and international levels.
Stating Naga women organizations comprised mostly of mothers, he called upon unmarried and educated women too to take lead in organizations to foster better understanding and faster development.
Also highlighting on the initiatives undertaken by DAN government in uplifting women, he called upon Naga women to come forward and avail opportunities reserved for them in social, economic and other developmental activities.
The occasion was also graced by MLA and advisor, art and culture, new and renewable energy, science and technology, Deo Nukhu as the guest of honour.
The event was marked by unveiling of the jubilee monolith and releasing of the jubilee souvenir besides display of cultural events.
