This year’s edition of midnight service is being organized by Mokokchung Press Club (MP) C and sponsored by the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC).
The MPC has arranged a programme dubbed “New Year’s Eve Extravaganza” (Midnight Service) on the theme “Heralding a New Hope”. The programme which is scheduled to begin at around 8:30pm would feature songs, dances, comedy etc.
Artistes who would be performing at the event include Naga Idol 2006 winner, Moanungsang and the Midnight Band, showbiz hostess Arenla Lemtur, Asenla Longkumer, ‘Jam Master’ Lima Longkumer, comedians and many more. Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung Bendang Lemtur would be the chief guest and would initiate the countdown program to mark the coming of New Year.
Meanwhile, keeping in view the traffic congestion on December 31 during the midnight service programme, the MPC and traffic police station, Mokokchung has appealed to the public to cooperate with the traffic personnel on duty on December 31 night.
Traffic police also issued a directive to those coming from Mariani road to take the Old Town Hall road and then to Immanuel road junction and vice versa. Vehicles coming town from Sangtamla Ward have been asked to take the road leading towards SBI office and take a turn near Imkongmeren Sports Complex junction to get to the other side of the town.
Traffic police also appealed the drivers of heavy vehicles not to park their vehicles on the diversion roads as it may cause heavy traffic jams.
