Expressing dismay over the December 19 and 20 incidents at Line Hotel, Pherima village, Sakipheto Area Students’ Union (SASU) has conveyed its sympathy to the hotel owner/businessman who were affected by the “disrespectful destruction”. A joint press statement issued by SASU president Nikavi Chishi and general secretary Aron Zhimo while affirming the union’s support for peace among Nagas, stated that the role of any organization or union was to promote brotherhood and humanism in the society and pointed out that such was “glaringly absent in the event”.
Union also appreciated the way Pherima village elders handled the situation stating “though provoked to seething point, they decided to control the matter for the sake of peace among various communities.” Stating that public bodies should take the responsibility to ensure that peace prevailed in the event any such incident occurred in the future, SASU further “prayed” that the government would “do the needful” to compensate the loss caused.
