All Nagaland Pre-Service Teachers Association (ANPSTA) Mokokchung unit reasserted that the education department under Mokokchung should ensure that only those qualified candidates should be allowed to sit for the written exam for primary teachers. ANPTSA pointed out that the department had clearly mentioned on the eligibility criteria (b) that only those PU/HSSLC having PSTE certificate only could apply for the post of primary teacher. Further, ANPSTA Mokokchung unit president, Imliwapang and general secretary, Watitoshi Jamir reminded that the unit had called off the 2nd phase of agitation based on the assurances of the government that the primary teachers’ post would be conducted only among the PSTE and also as per the norms of NCTE and RTE Act. The Association cautioned that failure to do so by the government would be considered as a “blunder” which would compel it to continue with its agitation for the rights of PSTE trained candidates.
