WW II bomb kills minor in Phek

A minor girl was killed and four others injured when an undetonated explosive material, suspected to be from the WW II era, exploded December 22 at Khezhakeno village, Phek. According to Khezhakeno village council chairman D. Ichinyi the incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. that day while the discovered bomb was set on fire along with garbage. The four-year-old girl, identified as Neneite, died on the spot while one among the four injured, a 17-year-old girl, was rushed to Bethel Hospital, Kohima for medical attention. Police investigation suspect the explosive material was left or dropped by allied forces of WW II.
