Launching of free coaching
DIMAPUR: Free coaching for those students who would be appearing their HSLC examination would be launched on January 4 at 12 noon at Libemo Memorial School, Wokha with principal GHSS Wokha, Wonthungo Tsopoe as the chief guest. Youth Association Wokha District (YAWD) is organizing the free coaching. Meanwhile, the YAWD has informed students who have collected forms to submit it to YAWD on January 4.
‘World Peace Day’
DIMAPUR: Tej Gyan foundation on the occasion of ‘World Peace Day’ organised ‘sign-up camp’ to welcome January1, 2011. The camp was organized under the guidance of Rotary Club in Green Park, Dimapur. On the occasion, the members observed one-minute prayer for good health, peace and prosperity of the world. About 1000 people participated in the camp.
CSA meeting
DIMAPUR: Chakhroma Sports Association (CSA) has informed all the presidents and secretaries of Group A, B, C, and D under CSA and all federating villages or units youth presidents and secretaries under the jurisdiction of Chakhroma to attend a meeting on January 4 at 10am at CPO Hall, Chumukedima Town.
PLP general meeting
DIMAPUR: General meeting of Phom Students conference has been convened on January 13, 9am at its headquarter at Longleng. All federating units, executive councils and union assembly have been informed to attend the assembly.
SSUK fetes
DIMAPUR: Sungratsü students’ union Kohima (SSUK) has felicitated Emtili Aier, Northfield School (Class-V) on bagging the consolation prize at the National level painting competition under national campaign on energy conservation held in New Delhi on December 14. The union also congratulated Liaren Aier of Fernwood School on bagging the first prize at Hornbill Kids Carnival. Union president Pursunep Aier urged the winners to keep up the good spirit for the uplift of the community and wished them success in their future endeavor.
SDMC new team
DIMAPUR: Sarbajanin Durga Mandir Committee (SDMC) Purana Bazar elected its new team of office bearers at the general meeting held on December 26. The new team of office bearers would be headed by Kailash Kachari as president and Pitu Mech as general secretary. The community also elected Jiboraj Libmu, G.C Bhuyan and Amren Kachari as advisors. According to joint secretary Gautam Mech, construction of temple and its building would be the first priority to be taken up by the new team.
CTC trade license renewal
DIMAPUR: In view of the forthcoming 2nd inter-ward tournament 2011 scheduled from January 17-21 at Chumukedima, the Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) has directed all business establishment to renew trade license and apply fresh registration from January 3-13. CTC informed all business establishments to comply with the directives and that strict action would be taken against defaulters as per provision of the law.
RBYDA youth camp
DIMAPUR: Youth department of Rengma Baptist Churches in Dimapur area (RBYDA) would be organising three-day youth camp for the first time coinciding with the CRBC youth foundation day starting January 4. The camp would be held on the theme ‘Revive us’ at Youth Oasis centre, Eralibill with Rev. M.K Lorin, Dr. Kenilo Kath and Allemsunep Jamir as the speakers. Rengma Baptist youth Dimapur area (RBYDA) president Monemo Apon has requested all youth members to attend the camp.
20 AR recovers liquor along NH-29
DIMAPUR: Troops of 20 Assam Rifles under HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles of IGARN (N) intercepted a speeding Tata Mobile vehicle registered No NL-07-2552 on the way to Kohima from Dimapur on December 28, around 7:30 pm at Ghaspani along NH-29. According to a defence release, 207 cases of liquor comprising 9 cases of Bagpiper Whisky, 93 cases of Mc Dowell’s Rum, 4 cases of Kingfisher Strong Beer, 4 cases of Beer Tuborg Strong, 1 case of Master 9000 Beer, 36 cases of He-Man 9000 Beer, 24 cases of Mc Dowell’s Whisky, 4 cases of Blenders Pride Whisky, 23 cases of Thunder 10000 Beer, 9 cases of Mc Dowell’s Whisky (Half) with an approximate value of Rs.3,27,000 in the local market. Subsequently, the apprehended individual with the recovered consignment was reportedly handed over to Police Station, Medziphema.
Visa Tsunuomia Krotho meet-cum-picnic
DIMAPUR: Visa Tsunuomia Krotho would be organizing an annual meet-cum-picnic on January 5, 10am at Kisama. The highlights of the programme will be mass prayer and exhortations by elders, introductions of new members, awards and certificates for academic excellences during 2009-10 and other meritorious achievements, gift exchange (worth Rs.500 and above) from every families, games for children, which will be followed by a grand feast hosted by Sizo Kiso and family.
