Pherima Students’ Union (PSU) has condemned the December 20 incident at Pherima village wherein a mob led by AYO leaders vandalized a roadside hotel at Pherima by destroying properties worth lakhs besides looting lakhs of rupees.
PSU president, Khetovi Zhimomi and general secretary, Kaholi Yepthomi stated the incident was uncalled for, for a responsible leader like the president of Angami Youth Organization to commit and encourage such act which has brought misunderstanding and disunity among the people especially during festive season.
The union alleged that any responsible youth leader who instead of discouraging such acts, having intention of creating tension and chaos among the people was not fit to be a responsible leader and called upon Nagas irrespective of tribe or community to condemn the act of violence committed by AYO leaders.
The union further expressed it was not against any organization but called on all like minded people to condemn the incident so that such incidents are not repeated in future.
PSU also extended support to the ultimatum served to the authorities by Pherima Village Council for arresting those involved in the incident and appealed the concerned authority to speed up the investigation and book the culprit at the earliest.
PSU cautioned it would resort to its own course of action and authorities would be responsible for any outcome of unwanted situation, if the authority failed to meet its demand.
