LWS condemns attempted rape

A case of attempted rape was reported from Leshemi village, Phek, where five persons, allegedly in drunken state physically assaulted two minor girls on Jan 1.
Leshemi Women Society (LWS) chairperson Zupelhou Lomi and member Chitsou Zhemi said five miscreants, identified as Vetsope, Lhouvepe, Lhouvelo, Neilhoupe and Velhoupe, all from Khezhakeno village, went to Leshemi village on Jan 1 under the influence of alcohol and tried to rape two minor girls of the village. The girls were allegedly stripped off their clothes, physically assaulted and then forcibly taken 2kms away from the village until they were rescued by village youths. LWS has urged the district administration to intervene and arrest all the culprits and punish them.
Meanwhile, LWS strongly condemned the heinous act and further appealed to the authority to provide safety and security to women.
