CMA condemns Jan 1 attempted rape incident

Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) has expressed shock over the January 1 incident, where five boys from Khezhakeno village allegedly attempted to rape two minor girls from Leshemi village. CMA, in a release issued by its president Kuthozulu Rose and secretary Nungotsolu Kezo, strongly condemned the act and lamented that women are no longer safe in the society today as many kinds of violence were perpetrated against women and many innocent girls fell prey to molestation, eve teasing and harassment etc. Expressing deep resentment over “unabated increase of violence against women time and again”, CMA maintained that such inhuman treatment against women should be condemned by all section of the society, and urged responsible authorities to take immediate action against the culprits and punish them. Also reiterating its commitment to eliminate all kinds of violence against women, association further demanded that adequate security measures be provided to avert such crimes from occurring again.
