Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union (DDADU) has condemned the murder of an auto driver Tuesday and appealed to the law enforcing agencies and the district administration to thoroughly investigate into the case and arrest those involved soon.
DDADU also cautioned that it would resort to its own course of action if the authorities failed to deliver justice at the earliest.
While stating this through a statement, DADU president Akaho Kiba disclosed that the murdered auto driver was Baijnath Sahni, whose body was recovered January 3 as reported in local dailies.
DDADU said the miscreants who intended to snatch the autorickshaw murdered the innocent driver mercilessly and took away the autorickshaw.
“Such mindless and insane act needs to be condemned by all irrespective of the caste, sex, religion and organization,” said Kiba.
Observing that in the recent past innocent autorickshaw drivers have become soft targets of mindless looters and snatchers, the union urged both law enforcing agencies and administration to provide necessary security to check such menace, especially in the areas where such incidents were frequently reported.
Meanwhile, the union has convened an emergency meeting on January 5, at 2 p.min its office. All executive members, area in-charge, line secretaries and advisors have been asked to attend the meeting.
