National Voters Day on January 25

The Election Commission of India has declared January 25 as ‘First National Voters Day’ in commemoration of its diamond jubilee celebration. The jubilee is being celebrated on the theme ‘Greater participation for a stronger democracy’.
For awareness of the people regarding ‘National Voters Day’ and for betterment of election, an SMS slogan competition was launched on Wednesday.
According to an official bulletin, any person can send any number of SMS to mobile number 9402902072 on the theme ‘Greater participation for a stronger democracy’ within 30 words with senders’ name and address.
The name of the finalist would appear in all local papers from January 5 to 24. Finalist would be awarded `500 each and among the finalist, first, second and third prize would be awarded `5,000, ` 3,000, `2,000 respectively on ‘National Voters Day’.
