Hariram case: GPRN/NSCN apprehends 1

GPRN/NSCN Wednesday said its has apprehend one “sgt. Major” Romio Poumai (33), of Khungdi village, Senapati, Manipur in connection with the abduction of Hariram Gupta November 25 last year. A GPRN/NSCN, MIP statement said the accused has confessed to its authorities of his “direct involvement” in Hariram Gupta abduction case.
According to GPRN/NSCN, the accused, along with the mastermind, its terminated “tatar”, who were currently under in its custody, would soon be handed over to Indian authorities.
The MIP said the accused Romio Poumai had joined NSCN (I-M) in 2003 and claimed to have joined GPRN/NSCN in 2008. “However, upon checking official documents, there is no record of him joining the Naga Army,” MIP stated.
Further, claiming that the accused has no “army number or assigned unit”, the MIP said therefore any claim of him or any group being part of GPRN/NSCN was illogical.
“He is just a regular criminal tarnishing the image of the Naga Army,” it said.
