A clash over land dispute between villagers of two neighbouring villages in Manipur’s Senapati district left two people injured on Wednesday evening.
According to an official report, the clash erupted around 3.30 pm when some villagers of Thanglong village entered the disputed land dividing (boundary) the Thanglong and Shongyong villages about 30 km from Kangpokpi police station under Senapati district. During the clash, some villagers fired from their guns in which two villagers from Shongyang village sustained bullet injuries, the report added.
Further, the injured identified as Paomillan Kipgen alias Paobi (22) and Lamkhomang Kipgen (30) had been admitted to a hospital in Kangpokpi.
Meanwhile, police said that the villagers sustained bullet injuries in the cross firing between the villagers but on the other hand, villagers alleged that they sustained injuries in the firing by troops of 10 Dorga Regiment in their effort to bring the situation under control.
In another unrelated incident, two doctors (husband and wife) are under police scanner after a woman died giving birth to a baby girl on Tuesday last.
